One thing I forgot to mention was that Paul managed to slip over and bang the back of his head and his left elbow! I was so pleased that I had just done my First Aid course and was able to put my newly refreshed knowledge into action. No painkillers as it might mask something more serious. His elbow looked bad
We popped into a chemist and Paul spoke to the pharmacist who said should be ok and recommended ibuprofen. I am pleased to say that Paul is fine and that the swelling has gone down but he is going to have a wonderful bruise!
We awoke to glorious sunshine and decided that a walk to Warkworth was in order. It was a lovely stroll along by the river Coquet and soon we were in Warkworth.
This is the wonderful castle. Apparently Northumberland has the most remaining castles in England. It was delightful walking around Warkworth and soon it was back to the boat and off on our travels again.
We left Amble at about 12:30 heading for Holy Island and the Farne Islands. It was a slow start with the wind not just in the right position so it was a rolly journey to Bamburgh Castle then the wind altered direction slightly and we had a great sail. We sailed by the Farne Islands - somewhere I had not seen before - what a wonderful group of Islands they are. We saw many little puffins in the water - what funny little birds they are! They struggle to take off and flap their wings like mad - so wonderful to see them in the wild. We also saw Guillemotts, Razor bills and the lovely soaring Gannets with their wonderful wide wing span just gliding. We then wizzed past Holy Island remembering when we had visited last year and saw the leading marks to show the way to the anchorage there. We did think about anchoring at Holy island but it might have been a bumpy night on the anchor so we decided to head on. We then rounded the point and were sailing across Berwick bay and got into Eyemouth at about 8:30pm.
We are in Scotland! Can you believe it!
Hope you get this as I'm doing it from my Hudl instead of computer. Glad you are enjoying the lovely Northumberland coastline. Northumberland is an undiscovered county, but very beautiful. Do hope Paul has recovered from his fall. Much love, Mum
