A walk for Jazz was on the cards this morning. We had read about a walk alongside the river to St Clement. A delightful walk it was too. St Clement was a hamlet with a handful of houses and a delightful church. The church was unusual in that it had a lynchgate with a room above it.
The restored lych-gate is a very interesting slate-faced building. There are only two other similar buildings in Cornwall. Over the centuries it has had many roles. For many generations it was the Parish Vestry Room, where rates were made and relief granted to the poor. Later it became the village school. From 1840 – 1872 the downstairs’ room was a pig sty and now, the upstairs room is an artist’s studio.
Also rather unusual the double nave
Back to the boat for lunch and move on again. We anchored in Trelissick bay.
We met a man who was also anchored in the harbour and we were chatting and we told him about our adventures. He was amazed that we had been away for 3 months and were still talking to each other!
Again a very peaceful anchorage. Jazz loved it as she had a walk shore and a swim back to the boat!
