Day 56

Friday 24th June 2016

it is so good to receive positive comments about my blog. I am really enjoying doing it and for me it is a record of what we get upto remembering the highs as well as the lows.

One thing about this trip is that we really do feel "out of the loop" as far as communication is concerned. There have been places where we have found it difficult to get a radio signal so we do get behind with all that is going on in the world.

We struggled to find a radio signal this morning and eventually managed to tune into radio 4 on long wave to hear that we were leaving the EU.

Before we left we walked Jazz and saw this lovely church

We had an early start today as we needed to get the tide in the right direction to move on today. There is a narrow (well relatively speaking!) between N Ireland, Rathlin Island and Kintyre. The tide roars through there and you would not want to go against it!

There was no wind so we had to motor all the way to Glenarm. The tide was very strong sa we only recorded 17 miles through the water for a trip that would have been about 25 over the land! We could see rain and didn't quite manage to make it before it rained on us.

Glenarm is a lovely small town, very quiet but so welcoming. The harbour master suggested a lovely walk for us up into the forest. We decided to go as Jazz would love a good walk. What a delightful walk it was! The only downside was that it started to rain and by the time we got back we were soaked to the skin! Having said that then the sun decided to come out and it was a glorious afternoon.
