Day 84

Friday 22nd July 2016

Another big trip today! This time we were going round Lands End! It was coming upto Spring tides (when there is the greatest range of height of tide and greatest strength of currents) so we had to get our timing right to get around Lands End. When you have these big tides the seas can be choppy and a little bumpy.

We left at 7:15am

and started our journey down the coast. We passed Cape Cornwall

and were soon at Lands End - the tide working well for us. At first this was all we could see!

We did get some great views of the Longships Light

Quite a turning point for us. This would be the most westerly point of England!

We were then turning the "corner" and heading up the south coast! South Coast - that's our sailing ground - nearly home - well a couple of hundred miles still to cover!

We were very fortunate to be able to sail by the Mimack Theatre and had this wonderful view of it - not one that everyone will be able to appreciate

We arrived in Penzance early afternoon. We could have gone into Newlyn but unfortunatley they do not allow dogs in the harbour due to the fishing industry.

Penzance is another harbour with a gate to keep the water in. We moored on a bouy outside waiting for high tide so we could go in. At abut 6pm we got the green light to go in. We are now safely moored up there. A rest day tomorrow we think.
